From the GHS Athletic Hall of Fame By-Laws:
Section 4: Voting and Selection Process
Class Size Limits: To maintain the prestige of the Hall of Fame, no more than nine (9) individuals and one (1) team may be inducted at the Annual Induction Ceremony. The Board will select one athlete from each decade between 1950 and 2011, as long as nominees are available from each decade. When considering athletes for induction, the Board will use the decade that corresponds to the athlete’s graduating year or final year of competition. For non-athletes, the Board will use any year of participation for decade classification. Additionally, the Board may include up to three (3) Legacy recognitions to honor individuals who graduated or participated prior to 1950.
The Board of Directors want to recognize people who may have played, coached, or otherwise supported Gilbert High School Athletics from 1926-1949. The Board refers to those folks as Legacy Members. Data may be hard to find, but we know there are lots of people who helped build our athletic program in the early days of GHS. If you know, or your parents or grandparents know, of people who had a significant impact on Gilbert Athletics from this time period, we encourage you to nominate them as a Legacy Member.
You may nominate as many people as you would like, however, it only makes sense to nominate one person from each decade. Nominating someone to be inducted takes some time and effort, and we believe the process and voting will be difficult. Put your effort into the one person from each decade who you think had the biggest impact on Gilbert Athletics. Then, provide the documentation and evidence that makes the case that your nominee deserves to be inducted this year!
Steps to Nomination
To nominate someone to be inducted into the hall of fame, you must register as a nominator. You only need to complete this form one time. We are using FillOut and Airtable to help us with the nomination process. You may see these two names as you navigate through this process.
Step 1: Complete the Nominator Registration Form
Step 2: Check your email inbox for an email from Airtable Automations
Step 3: Copy your nominator code and use it each time you complete a nomination form
Step 4: Think about who you want to nominate and collect information that helps authenticate your nomination. For example, you can use newspaper articles that detailed a players achievements, records, or statistics. You will be asked to write about your nominee’s leadership and character, so be thinking about that. You may want to review the form and make some notes before you begin completing the form. Good luck!!
